Math Tutor

Who We Are:

Across North America and all over the world, Mathnasium Learning Centers are committed to teaching children math so that they understand it, master it, and love it.

We are professional, engaging and fun. Our goal is to help every child reach their potential in math! We work with students in grades PreK through 12th grade, which includes Algebra 1, 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, as well as test prep programs for the SSAT, PSAT, SAT, and ACT.

For this potion, We pay $11 - $14/hr for this position base on the level math you can teach, and your availability for number of shifts. 

What makes the best applicant for this position?

• Available to work 2-3 times per week, Mon - Thu: 4pm - 8pm & Sun: 2pm - 6pm., working around your schedule (ex. Monday and Wednesday . [NOT looking for Friday and Saturdays]
• Excellence in and ability to teach math: 2nd - 5th grade are the majority of our students, Algebra 1, 2, Geometry, Pre-Calc and Trig are a plus. 
• Enjoys working with students (personable, caring, kind, outgoing, engaging, and fun to work with)
• Highly motivated to assist in our mission to Make Math Make Sense to all students!

What you WILL NOT do:

• You WILL NOT create the curriculum!
• You WILL NOT need to handle behavioral issues!
• You WILL NOT work with 25+ kids at a time!
• You WILL NOT work on other subjects such as reading, writing, science, and history!
• You WILL NOT worry about finding materials to help students with homework or prepare for an upcoming test!
   

What you WILL do:

• You will teach/review the lessons prepared in your assigned student's binder
• You will hand over any students who have behavioral issues to the Center Director, who will then handle them or call parents to pick them up early
• You will only work with a maximum of 3 students in a given hour timeframe
• You will only work on math concepts including Mathnasium Curriculum in the student's binder
• You will assist students who are working on homework from school and review any study guides the student brings with them to prepare for tests. Additional materials will be prepared by the Center Director.

We will teach you the Mathnasium methodology and prescribed teaching practices, and in turn, you’ll provide fun, encouragement, and motivation by engaging our students to help them shed their fears and build a passion for mathematics.
