Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida is seeking a Part-Time Match Support Specialist for their Panama City office.

NOTE:

This position is working in an office as well as some remote work doing case management work with volunteers, children, and parents. Most of the work is done over the phone, talking with children, parents, guardians, and volunteers.

 

This person will also participate in volunteer interviews, children's interviews, some volunteer recruitment and speaking engagements just to remain up to date and trained should they need to fill in for another staff.

 

Must be able to work alone as well as with others.

MUST be honest and a person of integrity.

Must be willing and able to visit child's home if necessary.

 

The hours are typically Monday through Friday, 5 hours a day and best done from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., however, these hours can be adjusted if they are available to make calls in the evening as needed.

 

There will be occasional weekend events where we will need this person to fill in.  Maybe 4 or 5 times a year.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide support to and build relationships with mentors, youth, and parent/guardian(s)
  • Able to go above and beyond to find resources to help the matches be successful
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with local schools and community partners within the county.
  • Provide match support in a timely manner and within the requirements of the Standards of Practice of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Match support includes but is not limited to scheduled in-person, telephone, and electronic contact with matches, ascertaining that the elements of child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction are fulfilled, and that potential problems and barriers are identified and addressed as early as possible.
  • Help matches form and sustain appropriate child and adult volunteer relationships based on positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction.
  • Effectively assess and execute the following relational support skills: guiding, supporting, confronting, advising and/or negotiating
  • Must be able to relate well in multicultural environments
  • Ensure high-level proficiency in applying child safety and risk management within the matches.
  • Develop strategic interventions to identify and help strengthen match relationships that require extra support.
  • Implement and promote match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement through individualized recognition, annual events, and re-engagement strategies.
  • Conduct evaluations of matches when needed.
  • Conduct exit interviews by phone or in person with all parties at match closure. Assess reasons for match closure and re-match potential.
  • Provide timely and comprehensive written summaries of all contacts with accordance to national and local standards
  • Administer measurement tools, to include customer satisfaction surveys, program outcome evaluations, strength of relationship and youth outcome surveys.
  • Ensure the Standards of Practice and Policies and Procedures are followed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of education, recreation, human service, child development, psychology, social work or related field OR Associate's degree and 2 years’ experience in the above related field.
  • Computer skills a must.
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Understanding of best practices in child development, behavior management, developmentally appropriate activities, child safety, etc.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills, both written and oral

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time as needed for events
  • Lift 30 pounds
  • Sit for long periods of time
  • Bend, squat and kneel

Salary: From $17.00 per hour
