Lead Baker Job Description

The Lead Baker is responsible for assisting the Bakery Manager with the daily operations of the bakery, including daily planning and production, and overseeing employees

Full Time (~32 hours per week)

Primary Duties:

  • Assist Bakery Manager with overseeing daily kitchen operations, including prep, dough production, assembling and baking pies, cleaning and restocking the kitchen
  • Work with the Bakery Manager to become proficient in all recipes and processes
  • Lead by example in all areas of baking and production, setting the pace and tone for the day with a sense of urgency and motivating the team throughout the day
  • Assist with training new employees
  • Exercise quality control so all raw and baked goods adhere to quality and food safety standards
  • Monitor shop inventory frequently throughout the day to ensure pastries are in-stock, making more when necessary and reducing waste (imperative on Lead Bake Days)
  • On Lead Bake Days: Pull orders from various outlets (Shopify, wholesale, phone orders, calendar orders, etc.) and review sales to come up with Bake Plans
  • On Lead Bake Days: Assign employees to tasks, revising as necessary
  • Under the supervision of the Bakery Manager, monitor inventory levels for orderable items and prepped items; communicate needs to the team
  • Other duties as assigned

Primary Qualifications:

  • 2 years of baking experience, management preferred
  • Strong leadership and math skills
  • Loves people, loves pie
  • Personable, friendly
  • Honest and works with integrity
  • Punctual and flexible
  • Strong communication, time and resource management, and planning skills
  • Ability to work in hot, hectic environment, stand, walk, bend, use hands and appliances, and lift heavy items for extended periods
  • Willingness to work independently or with other team members to solve problems, fulfill orders, and create amazing pie
  • Attention to detail, ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Idaho Food Handlers Permit
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Willing to work weekends and holidays
