The Children’s Ministry Director will help develop, and then oversee, the church’s program for children from
birth through grade 5 who are in various stages of their faith journey. This person will have a heart for children and a strong desire to guide their steps toward developing and/or strengthening their relationship with Jesus. The Director will serve the church and its neighborhood by serving children and families in keeping with the mission of Christ Memorial Baptist Church. The Director will recruit and empower his or her team of volunteers to creatively develop effective discipleship opportunities that connect children and families to Jesus and each other. This is a part-time (10 -12 hours per week) position.
Qualifications for the position are as follows:
• Passion for connecting children and families to Jesus and the church
• Ability to work well with children and families
• Commitment to growing personally in faith and helping children grow in faith
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to train and teach parents and volunteers
• Ability to learn and offer creative solutions to disciple children and families
• Capacity to inspire and motivate volunteers
• Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity
• Good organizational skills
• Creative and flexible approach to people and work
• Strong ethical standards that create trust with volunteers, parents, and church leadership
• Is certified or is able to pass a certification program for CPR and emergency first aid
• The ability to pass a background check
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Work directly with the Senior Pastor on the development of program goals and expectations
• Oversee all ministry to children in the church from birth to 5th grade
• Develop and oversee an effective, Gospel-centered Sunday School and Children’s Church curriculum
• Develop and oversee seasonal programs such as Vacation Bible School and outreach events
• Develop and oversee Wednesday evening children’s programming
• Find creative ways to engage the congregation and recruit volunteers
• Oversee training and development of volunteer staff
• Work with church staff to ensure effective communication of program objectives
• Create and maintain attendance and other reporting records
• Follow-up with first-time attendees and their parents to introduce them to our church
• Meet with Senior Pastor weekly and attend board meetings as necessary
Spiritual expectations:
• An unapologetic love for Jesus and His people
• A testimony of personal salvation that is willingly shared with others
• A history of current and regular attendance within a local body of believers
• A public profession of faith through Believer’s Baptism (or the willingness to be baptized)
• Regular participation in church functions that include families with children
• Regular attendance in at least one of our adult Bible studies or small groups
