Position Purpose
Majestic View Nature Center and Community Park is a place to experience and understand the area's natural features by interacting directly with nature. The Nature Center�s mission is to inspire environmental learning and interpretive connections with our community.

The Nature Center Summer Camp Intern�s main responsibility will be to assist in teaching environmental summer camps. Before the camps begin, there will be paid training to learn the curriculum, camp safety policy and procedures, and other responsibilities around the park and in the Nature Center.

Hours: Typically 8 a.m.-2 p.m., up to 200 hours total

Job Functions / Scope of Authority
Assist in teaching nature camps, learn classroom management skills and work alongside educational volunteers.

Work closely with the Nature Center staff and volunteers to present interpretive programs, update exhibits, and assist with miscellaneous park projects.

Perform some manual duties associated with programs and building use; arranging tables, chairs and equipment, leading outdoor activities, cleaning after programs, aquarium care, or other duties as they arise.

Help plan, prepare, and facilitate 20th anniversary event-Saturday, August 6

Visitor engagement and become an ambassador for the Center during public hours.

Monitor safety, security and cleanliness of the Center and its surrounding grounds.

Working Environment / Qualifications
Qualifications:

Passionate about nature and environmental topics

Must enjoy interacting with kids and adults; previous experience working with groups of kids is preferred.

Willing to teach children ages 6-9 years old

Enthusiastic to learn about the interpretive field and environmental education

Work well with staff, volunteers, and the public

Must pass a background check (if over 18 years)
