EarthDefine is seeking a GIS Associate Intern who possesses a strong technical background in GIS/geospatial processes and is on a career track to become an Analyst. The successful candidate will provide GIS support through data processing, data management and analysis, process automation and will help manage client projects through project planning/delivery, setting the technical direction, and communicating with clients.

Job Responsibilities

Design and implement procedures for large-scale land cover classification projects.
Develop data products related to Remote Sensing and GIS projects.
Perform QA/QC on spatial data products.
Communicate project updates to clients and partners.
Research, identify and consolidate geospatial data from multiple sources for input into classification workflows (imagery, Lidar, demographic data, road networks etc.).
Create and update geoprocessing scripts.
Create project documentation and metadata for deliverables.
Research new approaches to address geospatial data development challenges.
Provide support to other team members.
What We Are Looking For

BS/MS preferably in GIS or Remote Sensing disciplines with strong analytical skills and 2+ years of hands-on experience in image processing and interpretation techniques.
Experience with object-based image classification and spatial modeling.
Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to quickly and efficiently learn applications, systems, policies, and procedures.
Experience with any major geospatial platform (OSGeo stack, ESRI, ENVI, PCI, ERDAS, GRASS, etc.).
Experience with automating processes through scripting (Python, ArcPy, IDL, etc.).
Experience in end to end geospatial data processing using data from multiple sources including multispectral imagery and Lidar.
Proven ability to lead and manage multiple projects and deliver project outcomes.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work well independently and with a team.
Job Location

Redmond, WA. Optionally, remote or hybrid remote will be available to the right candidate.

Intership Duration

3 months. Possibility of full-time regular employment offered at the end of a successful internship, based on candidate's performance and available funding.

Salary Range

$50,000/year, prorated to internship term.
