Sales Associate
SoCo Organics Garden Center is seeking an individual to work full time from July - September while General Manager is out on maternity leave. Position will go to casual/part time after October 1, 2023, depending on business needs for the fall/winter. Looking to start training ASAP. Because of the short window for training, only candidates who posses the following qualifications will be considered:
Desired experience/qualifications of this individual include:
1. General understanding of plants--plant anatomy, how to grow plants, keep them healthy and overall maintenance, etc. Since we offer a wide selection of plants ranging from house plants, succulents, air plants, to garden plants, we are seeking an individual who has a solid grasp on what plants needs to thrive and how to troubleshoot issues such as dealing with pests or plant deficiencies.
2. SoCo Organics is Pueblo's only Hydroponic garden center, so candidate should have a basic understanding of different hydroponic growing styles/methods and knowledge on ph, E/C ppms, and nutrients within hydroponics in order to assist our community of hydroponic gardener.
3. Strong communication with co workers/management. Generally, only 1 employee works per shift, so candidate must be a strong communicator and willing to ask questions if necessary.
4. Knowledge with nutrients is a must. At a minimum, candidate must know what the 3 macro nutrients are, what their function is and how to identify plant deficiencies.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
*tending to plants--daily watering, maintenance, treatment for any issues that come up, tending to hydroponic displays
*assisting customers--including (but not limited to): finding products on shelves, offering recommendations to troubleshoot problems, plant identification, education on nutrients and plant maintenance, loading soil into vehicles, etc
*operating cash drawer and cash handling
*upkeep of store appearance restocking shelves
*receiving and unloading orders from suppliers
*receiving and dispatching rental equipment
Candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs+

Salary: $14.50 - $16.00 per hour
