Professional Arts Pharmacy has proven to be an advocate for patient access to specialty prescriptions. Specialty Pharmacy Technicians interact with insurance companies, patients and internal partners to ensure the processing of specialty medications in a timely manner and to ensure all financial and clinical expectations are being met prior to fulfillment.

  • Process prescriptions through insurance with attention to detail, ensuring all documentation is present and accurate, and that all federal and state regulations are met.
  • Navigate through complex prescription insurance billing, prior authorization requirements, and therapeutic alternatives.
  • Investigate patient insurance benefits and other supplemental payor information in order to maximize prescription medication funding and minimize out-of-pocket patient expenses.
  • Guide and educate callers on their prescription benefits, use of plan, formulary, premiums and status of orders and claims or inquiries.
  • Ask appropriate questions and listen actively while documenting required information in computer systems.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Louisiana.
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
  • No pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances.
