About the Job:

A general law practice with a primary focus on matters related to the planning, administration, and probate of estates and workers compensation/disability law, is seeking an experienced Paralegal to assist with the smooth functioning of the firm. This position includes legal administration of case files and correspondence, as well as drafting and interpreting legal documents and reports while maintaining positive contact with attorneys, staff, and clients. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. 

Essential Duties:

  • Speak with clients, draft correspondence, collect all necessary paperwork, prepare files, draft documents for review, and process/file/record papers.
  • Research, read and interpret legal documents.
  • Interact with clients, attorneys, and other staff. Schedule and prepare for meetings,  interviews, and depositions. Help lawyers prepare for meetings, hearings, and trials.
  • Attend required meetings, take notes, and notarize documents.
  • Prepare and update status reports. Record billable time daily. Assist with attorney time-keeping.
  • Prioritize time sensitive matters to ensure all assignments and inquiries are followed up on and deadlines are met.
  • Organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems for easy access.
  • Use technology and computer software to manage and organize documents and data.
  • Carry a caseload of approximately 30 – 40 active files with multiple handling attorneys
  • Handle special projects or additional responsibilities as assigned by the attorneys. 
  • Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • College degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent work experience in a law firm. 
  • At least 3 years as a paralegal (or legal assistant with comparable job responsibilities) in estate planning/administration, probate, and workers’ compensation.
  • Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in personal and fiduciary matters. 
  • Interpersonal skills to interface with a diverse group of people with courtesy and tact. 
  • Strong writing/editing, and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply. 
  • Prior knowledge of Clio Case Management cloud-based software is a plus.
  • Active notary license.
