General Purpose:

The YMCA of Orange County Home Visitation Program serves the families referred by Social Services Agency coordinaCalWORKs program to provide home visits for parenting, developmental assessments, home safety, and case management services. In collaboration with the Multi-Ethnic Maternal Child Health Network (MEMCHN) this program will serve parents of newborns up to three years old. Utilizing the Parents as Teachers model, YMCA Home Visitor will provide parental guidance and coaching in the home of the participant and includes services such as pre- and post-natal care assessment, developmental screenings, post-partum depression screening, and child development.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Provide up to 15 home visits per week to families referred by CalWORKs

• Develop Individualized Family Plans with the parent or caregiver

• Teach and model parenting skills in the home

• Assist families in identifying/accessing appropriate community resources

• Maintain and ensure the accurate completion of case files, notes, and reports

• Maintain accurate work and activity sheets, statistics, court reports/letters as required by program

• Develop effective working relations with all individuals and agencies supporting the (MEMCHN) and the YMCA.

• Ensure privacy requirements are maintained

• Maintain positive communications with all agency staff, families, and volunteers

• Support existing agency policies, principles, and mission

• Exercise good judgment in the performance of duties and responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of quality for program services

Education & Certification:

Option 1: 4 year degree in early childhood education or a related field

Option 2: 2 year degree or 60 college hours in early childhood education or a related field

Option 3: High school diploma or GED and at least two years of previous supervised work experience with young children, parents, or both.

Experience & Background:

• Successful experience working with families, children, and/or parents, and/or community outreach

• Ability to provide services that are culturally responsive

• Ability to use diagnostic skills to make assessments of the needs of children and families

• Demonstrated ability to be culturally responsive to the families served in ME-MCHN; Bilingual Korean ability required

• Training and experience in the Parents as Teachers home visiting model preferred

Skills & Abilities:

Strong organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment
Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle for transportation
Valid CA Driver's License and acceptable driving record and valid car insurance
Spanish Bilingual required
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 per hour
