Food Expeditor
Looking for a fun and flexible workplace? Diz's Cafe is looking for a Food Expeditor to work in our kitchen to assist with packaging Take Out orders, working with the kitchen staff, assisting with front of the house food and working with the front of the house staff.
You will work in a fast-paced environment to get proper orders out faster and more efficiently to help enhance our quality and reputation. By fulfilling these tasks you will be assisting in increasing the restaurant sales.
A Food Expeditor must be a well-organized individual who is able to multitask. Experience in the restaurant industry is required.
This position will start at 15-20 hours/week with the possibility for more hours when other staff needs coverage and when some Summer staff leaves in the Fall.
Expeditor Responsibilities, but not limited to:
-Ensuring the efficient flow of orders/communication from the kitchen to the wait staff
-Ensuring orders are being prepared with the correct priority
-Assisting in the final preparation of dishes (i.e. sides and salad dressings)
-Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation and temperature
-Deliver orders to maintain fast service when needed
-Eliminate obstacles in service, food preparation lines or dishwashing (if no Dishwasher on duty)
-Keep the kitchen area clean, sanitized and well stocked
-Transfer important information between the kitchen and the wait staff (i.e. when a customer has a particular request or the kitchen is out of a particular item, etc.)
-Support other tasks as needed (i.e. telephone orders)
-Not limited to kitchen duties only; willingness to learn other roles as well (i.e. Server, Dishwasher, etc.)
Requirements:
-Proven experience as food expeditor or other restaurant position
-Understanding of health and safety rules in a restaurant
-Outstanding coordination, multi-tasking abilities and good communication skills
-Speaking and understanding Spanish is a plus
-Able to work in a fast-paced environment
-A customer-oriented approach
-High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
