Job Title: Mechanical Installation Technician
Department: Field Services
Reports to: Field Services Manger


Summary:

SH Systems is a single-source, full-service systems integration company delivering dependable material handling systems, software, and post-sale support since 2002. The field services department is responsible for the installation of all integrated systems at our client sites across the country.


We are looking for a Mechanical Technician Levels I, II, III IV. Experience in the material handling sector and installation of conveyor systems or equipment highly desired. Experience assembling, installing, dismantling, moving, troubleshooting, and repair conveyor systems and be able to assist other Mechanical Technicians and other trades as assigned. The ideal candidates will have experience working on deadline related projects and able to work well in a team environment and 3+ years’ experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

-This position has no supervisory responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities:

-Ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements.
-Perform routine work within technical area.
-Install, dismantle, move, troubleshoot, and repair conveyor systems.
-Complete and understand customer specific safety training and rules.
-Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
-Utilize hand tools, levels, tape measures, etc.
-Use a laser lever and/or string line to ensure equipment is installed to specifications.
-Practice proper used of all company owned devices, email, computers, and web-based meetings.
-Operate hammer drill and anchor equipment.
-Perform intermediate conveyor preventative maintenance.
-Properly install air piping.
-Dock and safely unload and stage equipment from enclosed and flatbed trailers.
-Attends on site meetings with customer and Site Manager as needed.
-Helps other Mechanical Technicians and other trades as assigned.
-Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Travels up to 75% to project sites

Skills:

-Excellent communication skills with other employees and clients.
-Safety First Attitude.
-Advanced knowledge of safe work practices including when to stop work.
-Understand and manage Lockout/Tagout operations.
-Ability to install several types of conveyors.
-Ability to square a chalk line.
-Advanced lift equipment operations.
-Detailed oriented.
-Ability to troubleshoot various equipment and knowledge of conveyor, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
-Supervise the installation of compressors and air piping.
-Manage the unloading, staging, and inventory of received equipment.
-Ability to run projects in the absence of the supervisor.
-Advanced knowledge of safety tracking belt and following established regulations.
-Ability to work with Site Manager in the proper use of the Decision Tree.
-Ability to create a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
-Ability to communicate with other crew members and customers as needed.
-Advanced working knowledge of math used in the performance of work.
-Ability to access and inspect received equipment for correctness, completeness, and quality.
-Able to travel up to 75% out of state


Education and Experience:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ experience in material handling equipment or related field experience.
- Experience installing conveyor systems
- Experience installing equipment/machines



Physical Requirements:

Able to perform in a physically demanding work environment.
Ability to lift to 50 lbs.


Travel Requirement:
-Must be willing to travel on short notice and spend up to 75% of the time traveling to client project sites.
-Some travel on the weekends.
-Must be willing to be on call and willing to work weekends and off shifts while at installation sites.
