Position is responsible for all safety related issues and administration. The Manager will lead the company’s initiative to develop a strong safety culture and provide a safe work environment. A major goal is to reduce preventable safety related cost while improving the performance and well-being of the workforce.

Requirements

We are searching for a candidate with:

• Degree in the field of Safety or appropriate discipline preferred

• Prefer minimum of three years job related experience

• Valid State of New York Driver’s License

• Prefer certification as an O.S.H.A. Instructor

Duties and Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

• Reviews all safety policies and procedures and revises as needed

• Responsible for making sure the plant is in compliance with OSHA Rules and Regulations

• Administer Workers Compensation claims including accident investigation, reporting and post to OSHA

300 log.

• Primary contract for all work-related injuries

• Conduct safety inspections to determine possible issues recommending corrective actions

• Performs ergonomics assessments as needed

• Identifies potential safety issues and arrange or conducts appropriate training as needed

• Performs new employee orientation on safety

• Maintains files and records documenting training, safety violations, etc.

• Coordinates continuing education, monitors compliance and training for all employees on:

1. Lock-out/tag-out

2. Forklift certification

3. Hazardous Material (Right to Know)

4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

5. Hearing test

6. Respirator fit test

7. Seat belt

8. Wheel chocks

9. Eyewash stations

10. Appropriate footwear

11. Plant evacuation

This list is not all-inclusive. Other programs may be added as necessary.

• Work with the supervisors to maintain moderate/light duty work

• Enforces safety policies and issues disciplinary notices for employees not complying

• Performs on-site job inspections

• Serves as Chairman of the Safety Committee

• Updates and posts Federal and State labor laws

• Updates SDS sheets and makes available for employees’ reference

• Makes recommendations on safety equipment and protective safety wear.

• Keeps records of all safety equipment, spill containment records, accident reports and violations of

OSHA Rules and Regulations

• Reviews daily operations with supervisors on safety issues and concerns

• Maintains inventory of equipment needing fire extinguishers and first aid kits

• Keeps Plant Manager and the HR Manager informed of major areas of concern regarding safety and

liability issues

• Other duties as assigned by management
