For over 40 years, Adirondack Roots (formerly Housing Assistance Program of Essex County (HAPEC)) has been dedicated to building vital and sustainable communities by helping individuals and families put down roots and stay in the Adirondacks.

 

The Accounting Clerk is an important part of a team that makes a difference in the lives of community members by assisting with a wide range of housing needs.

 

Accounting Clerk General Responsibilities Include:

  • Input and process biweekly payroll and direct deposits in ADP
  • Transfer payroll to the accounting system
  • Investigate and resolve problems associated with processing payroll
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations for multiple checking accounts
  • Code invoices, expense reports, check requests, etc., with correct codes and enter into the accounting system
  • Match the corresponding purchase orders and shipping confirmations to invoices
  • Investigate and resolve problems associated with the processing of invoices
  • Prepare weekly check runs, process checks, and send to vendors
  • File, maintain, and distribute accounting documents, records, and reports
  • Perform other duties as required to support the Accountant

Accounting Clerk Required Education, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associate degree in accounting or equivalent experience working in an accounting office preferred 
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to accurately complete bank reconciliations
  • Ability to make mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to operate in a modern office environment using a computer, a copier, a scanner, and a server
  • Experience using QuickBooks or related accounting software preferred

Accounting Clerk Additional Useful Qualifications

  • Experience with non-profit fund accounting
  • Experience with Abila MIP or equivalent non-profit accounting software

Salary: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour based on experience and education.
