INFANT AND TODDLER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALISTS (ITDS)

Summary: The ITDS is a Medicaid-qualified provider certified by the State of Florida, Children’s Medical Services (CMS), Early Steps to provide development services to children with special needs in the ages 0-3 under the auspices of the Early Steps Program only. The ITDS works with the family of the children assigned in a team approach using the coaching model to advance the child's developmental needs and empower the family to become knowledgeable and proficient caregivers.

Specific:
INFANT TODDLER DEVELOPMENTAL SPECIALISTS
Children’s Health Educational Management is seeking Infant Toddler Developmental Specialists (ITDS) to work specifically with children ages Birth to three with special needs and their families. The ITDS will provide developmentally appropriate services to promote proficiency in goals identified in the Individual Family Support Plan (IFSP). Services may include direct service, parent/caregiver training, developmental screening/assessment, and collaboration with other disciplines providing treatment as part of the child and family’s team, such as Occupational/Speech and Physical therapists. Collaboration with other service providers would be under the consultation model to address specific services identified on the IFSP.
The ITDS must be willing to provide services in homes, daycare, or community settings where children experience their daily routines. An ITDS must be able to demonstrate the coaching and consultative model through weekly session notes, as well as conduct six-month review/assessments using the DPIYC tool, conduct an annual review and prepare a Plan of Care (POC) addressing progress made toward the goals outlined in a child’s Individual Family Support Plan. The Infant Toddler Developmental Specialists must be certified as ITDS. This position requires enrollment as a CMS Early Steps Provider and approval as a Medicaid Provider.
Both experienced and new applicants are encouraged to apply. Mentorship programs are available for new applicants. The company encourages therapists to establish their own schedule and work the number of hours they prefer depending on their hire status.


Degree and Experience requirements:
• In-field degree; Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood/Special Education, Child and Family Development, Family Life Specialist, Communication Sciences, Psychology, or Social Work.
• Experience: Provide documentation of at least (1) one year of post-degree professional experience in the early intervention using the Early Steps (ES) Certification of Experience Form

•Out-of-field degree from an accredited college or university

•Experience: Document at least five (5) years of post-degree professional experience in early intervention using the ES Certification of Experience Form.
Specific Training consists of the following:
Initial certification as an ITDS by completing the following;
6 ITDS Modules 3 Early Steps Program Orientation Modules
Participating in continuation education, specifically:
•Child Summary Outcome Training
•FL-EPIC Florida Embedded Practices and Intervention with Caregivers Early Steps Professional Development
•Autism Navigator Course
Language Requirement: English Speaking or Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Creole
Other qualifications: Must be Microsoft literate, able to use Word, Excel, and other electronic communications software.
Work Hours: Based on the needs of the family.
Location of Services: Natural Environments such as the child’s home, childcare facility, community care location, or other as determined by the family in the IFSP.

Expected Caseload: Part-time: 10 - 15; Full-time: 30-40
