WHO ENDORSES ME
Scott Werenka – Head of Data and Analytics, Venue church, Airdrie.
I’ve known Scott for 3 years after meeting him at Venue. “Shawn is very eager . . . He’s a great guy and huge learner. I think you would find value in having a sit down with him!”

WHY I WANT TO WORK AS A SOCCER STATISTICIAN
As a player and as a keen observer of the game, I have a passion to see a revolution in soccer analysis and statistics for the purpose of building understanding between fans, management of teams, teams, leagues, and players.

HOW I CAN ADD VALUE
This role aligns well with my character, talents, and desire, as I’m a self-driven, quick learner with a mind for analytics, mathematics and statistics. Furthermore, I have the technological experience, as well as familiarity with the game from being on the pitch with some terrific players and coaches. In marrying my passion, experience, and talent, I believe that I have what it would take to excel as a soccer statistician.

WHERE I’VE BEEN
At AireNet Internet Solutions from 2011 to 2015, I was a wireless internet tech. and also kept track of and analyzed customer statistical information. The data helped us improve our customer support process, and was one factor that reduced the number of client cancellations by about 10% from the 2nd to third year in the company.

In 2015 I worked as a technical assistant at a family of Ford auto dealerships in Alberta handling standard IT issues and installs. While there I demonstrated capabilities in IT, and had a reputation for being approachable, consistent, and competent.

From 2016-2018 I worked at WREM ICI/BOLT Offsite as a construction supervisor, with a particular interest and focus on having data drive our way to increased productivity. As a result of my focus on data, we were able to lower our benchmark production standards of the previous year by 150%. It was there that I demonstrated a resiliency and determination to coordinate greater levels of success.

WHAT I’VE LEARNED
? Statistics 215, Athabasca University, Alberta (2015)
? Three Year Diploma, Clearwater College, Alberta (2004)
? Electrical studies, Red Deer College, Alberta (2011)
