Dear Hiring Manager,

I came across your company’s open HR Assistant/Administrative Assistant position on G------------ and believe I am an ideal candidate for the position. I am a fast learner and quick to ask questions when I do not understand a request. My friends fondly refer to me as a “get-it-done” individual who excels at critical examination of information. You will notice a gap of employment in my resume from May 2020 until today which I would like to briefly address here.

Although successful in my administrative career with my previous employer, the coronavirus pandemic caused Gencor Industries, Inc. to make the difficult decision to under-go a major corporate restructuring and my position was eliminated. I chose to return to school and make a career shift. I have realized that the aspects of my previous work that I find the most rewarding are all in human resource and administrative-related tasks. Through my prior positions, I improved my editorial eye and was promoted to Contract Administrator. This position primarily involved the tracking of multiple projects, scheduling of technicians, and accounting functions. My ability to multitask for multiple projects is an asset I hope to add to your team as well as my welcoming, enthusiastic personality.

I am currently pursuing a full-time position in administrative roles and am confident in my ability to excel with your company of professionals. I am currently an online student enrolled at Valencia College which allows me to have open, flexible work hours, and I am available for immediate employment. My contact information can be found on the top of the first page of my attached resume. I look forward to speaking with you in more detail about my previous experience and how my skills can be an asset to your team.
