PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Starkey Hearing Technologies 2009 - 2020
SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Lead Mechanical Engineer for both continuation and new product development for hearing aids and accessory products. This includes remote microphones, remote controls, TV streamers, and chargers. Managed design efforts with contract manufacturers and molders both domestic and internationally which required new tooling development as well as transfer of tooling from one supplier to another. Worked with cross-functional teams that included Electro Acoustic, Microelectronic Packaging, Test Engineering, Software Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Product Management, and other departments.
Developed new Custom Hearing Aid charger working with cross-functional internal team and contract manufacturer. Required oversight from molds (3) and die (1) development to and through production startup
Developed special charge path for the rechargeable custom hearing aid
Continuation engineering root cause analysis using DMAIC process and A3s
Retooled complete product line, involving approximately 30 new molds, from domestic to international and back to domestic
Worked with contract manufacturers to resolve production, process and design related issues
Responsible for developing Design Validation Test Plans and executing to plan
Responsible for coordinating with Quality and Product Management to address key customer complaints and returns through Corrective Action Requests or Continuous Improvement Process
Use Rapid prototyping, 3D printed and machined, to prove out designs prior to production tooling release
Worked directly with contract manufacturers to ensure timely product launch. released product
New Product Introduction (NPI) process with Early Launch Containment (ELC)

Itron, Inc Waseca, MN 1994 - 2009
Technical Support Engineer (2008 -2009)
Beta Manager Water Fixed Network deployments. Responsible for coordinating all activities with the customer, internal and external, including developing Beta Test Plans, Beta Test Reports, coordinating installations with contractors, product delivery to installation site, and field audits. Additionally supported:
Numerous field audits for other products in multiple cities and states
International installation in Doha, Qatar for electric and water meter reading devices.

Mechanical Design Engineer (1994 - 2008)
Lead mechanical engineer in developing Automated Meter Reading (AMR) devices for gas, electric, and water meters. Responsible for design efforts from inception to production including design gate reviews, Alpha and Beta testing, and input to production processes. Key accomplishments:
Developed next generation gas product. Submitted 2 patent disclosures for meter engagement on two different meter models.
Designed enclosure for international market which included 4 new injection molded parts and unique antenna placement. Patent issued on the design on December 26, 2006
Designed 12 new injection molded parts in which two used two-shot process

Halliburton Energy Services Duncan, OK 1990 1994
Mechanical Design Engineer
Designed laboratory and field instrumentation for use in measuring properties of viscous fluids. Responsible for designs from inception, prototype, production, and field support.
Developed automatic data acquisition systems for high pressure high temperature laboratory equipment
Designed and certified an explosion proof radioactive densometer for use in hazardous gas locations

Mechanical Design Engineer 1983 1990
Started my career primarily focused on designs for military applications including HARM missile, rack mount radar equipment, fiber optics, and satellite electronic enclosures for Texas Instruments, FiberCom, GE Astro Space, and ITT.
