Skills Summary
I work well in a challenging and fast paced environment and as part of a team. Human rights, politics and policy are all areas I am extremely involved in within and out-with University, and I am really determined to use my skills to make a difference in these areas. I am a hardworking and dedicated individual, and I have IT skills and can use Excel and Microsoft. Previous teaching and volunteering experiences have taught me patience, how to plan and organise within tight timeframes and an ability to adapt to difficult environments, such as those with language barriers. I am very driven, and don’t give up on tasks easily. I am motivated and I pursue opportunities to create change. This is shown by my roles in University committees and campaigns, and through the educational courses I have completed.

Education
University of St Andrews - MA International Relations and Sustainable Development / September 2019 – May 2023
- Through studying international relations and sustainable development I have gained key insight into current global issues, such as climate change, and knowledge about which sectors are encouraging and promoting much needed changes around the world, such as the UN. This course has furthered my passion for pursuing a career which helps to promote global change and help communities around the world with whatever issues they may face.

HarvardX – PH558x: Humanitarian Response to Conflict and Disaster / June 2020
- This course has given me a key insight to the principles of humanitarian aid and a knowledge of international humanitarian law
- This knowledge has furthered my passion for pursuing a career within the humanitarian assistance field, and has given me insight into current and historical issues that the world faces and helped me understand how to approach these problems
- Due to the fact this course was online and self-taught, I have gained key time keeping skills and have shown commitment and dedication to completing tasks

Stanford Online – SOHS-YINTWOMENHEALTH: International Women’s Health and Human Rights / July 2020
- This online course has given me a key insight to the problems of inequality around the world and the projects in place to try and lessen them
- While this course has definitely increased my drive to work in a career based in human rights and inequality, it has also given me a background in knowing how to use my own knowledge to create projects for change
- This course has taught me problem solving skills and furthered my passion and drive for change.

Volunteering Experience
Arrochar Youth Group / 2014 - September 2019
- From 2014 I volunteered with my local youth group. Responsibilities included planning and carrying out fundraising events, using social media and local news platforms to publicise activities and communicating with the local community to help arrange funding or resources for anything they may need. Through this volunteering I gained communication and managing skills. This experience was also extremely important as it gave me an insight in establishing problem solving skills as it allowed me to use my own knowledge to access the resources to fix problems in my local community, something I hope to continue in an internship environment.

Go Global / August 2019
- During the summer of 2019 I volunteered with Go Global, a Ukrainian charity which aims to help combat the issue of poverty in rural Ukraine through teaching children English. I taught children English for a few weeks and stayed with a host family, who spoke no English. While this experience was challenging as I had to teach through a language barrier, it really heightened my communication skills. Furthermore, as I planned all the lessons myself this experience taught me valuable organizational skills, as lessons had to be completed on time as we had a schedule for the school day.

Jubilee Sailing Trust, (JST) / July 2019 and August 2018
- JST is a charity which gives both abled and disabled people an opportunity to sail in a tallship, and I have participated in two trips where I assisted the JST team sailing. These trips were an amazing experience and through working with people from all abilities, I have been taught just how important equality and not being bias to others is, which is something I want to promote in all fields of work, whether that be a career or an internship.

Global Vision International (GVI) / July 2018
- In 2018 I taught sports in South Africa with GVI. I have learnt vital skills like communication, even when it is tough due to language barriers, and patience, as every child learns at a different pace. I value and know the importance of what communication and organization can achieve and this experience has heightened my passion in aiding issues such as world hunger and hygiene, as within the areas I was teaching these were often not priorities and were seen as luxuries.

The St Andrews Public Policy Research Group drafts and writes policy suggestions in different areas, such as the environment and health. Being a part of this group has not only helped me read into and understand the formation and research that goes into creating policy, but has really inspired me to educate myself on how our governments work and to do my bit to positively influence this in the future.

As a development officer, I am responsible with setting up new projects within my community and liaising with charities to help lessen social issues within our community. Publicity Officer / Irvine Atlas Journal / May 2020 – Present
Within university, I am the publicity officer for the Irvine Atlas, a journal which focuses on geography and global sustainability. Through advertising and promoting this journal, I am able to raise awareness about the issues I care deeply about, such as climate change and global inequalities. I use social media platforms and events for publicity, which shows organisational skills and an ability to communicate well with others.

GVI Ambassador/ Global Vision International (GVI) / September 2019
I have previously volunteered with GVI and am extremely dedicated to the goals they are trying to achieve, such as aiding communities using the SDG’s.
