Lifeguard Resume

My name is Sophia Heath, I would like to apply for a lifeguard position. I believe I am aptly qualified for this job because I have been trained and certified in CPR and first aid for 4 consecutive years, have certification for life guarding, and have worked as a lifeguard previously. Through my high school, I have been certified in CPR and first aid since 2016. Then, on April 20, 2019 I finished my course with the Red Cross and received my Lifeguard and Waterpark Skills certificate. After receiving this certification I was hired through the City of Flora, Illinois to work at the city pool. This pool had a larger pool with two diving boards, a deep end of 11 feet, two guard stands, and a baby pool that is about 1 1/2 feet deep. I worked as a day lifeguard throughout the summer of 2019 and took additional work for many night parties organized through the pool as well. Through this job I luckily only had to save one life, however, I will never forget the feeling of knowing I was able to help and save a person in distress. I learned the importance of knowing, and exercising, the skills I learned in my many lessons, as well as how to keep calm during a stressful and tedious situation. While working, I also constantly reminded customers and swimmers of the rules in place at my facility and was not scared to correct any customers who were not adhering to these important instructions. During an average day at this facility, I would clear the pool of leaves and other debris in the morning, then clean restrooms, toilets, and vacuum inside the main guard quarters, at the end of the day I would empty trash cans from the restrooms and guard room and take all trash to the dumpsters, as well as bring in the umbrellas from outside, and do a final scan of both the main pool and the baby pool. I would also teach swim lessons with multiple children in the mornings. These lessons would include myself and 2 other guards teaching groups of young children how to swim freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke across the pool and back, helping children under the age of 5 get used to the water and learn how to stay afloat, and teaching older children how to dive and do other tricks. During the summer employed at the Flora Pool I also helped teach a water aerobics class for people the age of 18 and up. This class had mainly middle age and elderly swimmers so I became well aware of how to approach and acquaint with people of all ages and backgrounds. I have learned these lessons and many more and hope to be able to show you how hardworking and dedicated I am to helping anyone from novice to experienced swimmers. I look forward to hearing back.

Thank you for your time,
Sophia Heath
