TEACHING EXPERIENCE

2009 – 2020 Lick Wilmerding High School, San Francisco
- Taught 10th grade World History and 11th grade U.S. History Honors at an independent school serving a diverse student population.
- Advisor to several groups of students
- Served as U.S. History Team Leader from 2015-2018. Facilitated team meetings, mentored new team members, and organized guest speakers and field trips
- Quickly and effectively adapted to Distance Learning from March – May 2020; used Zoom for synchronous classes

2006 – 2009 Hong Kong Academy, Hong Kong
- Instrumental in creating the Hong Kong Academy Middle School program, founded during the 2006/7 school year. Actively involved in determining the school’s curriculum, policies, and procedures for a small international middle school serving a diverse population of expatriate children.
- Taught 6th and 7th grade Social Studies and Language Arts, 9th grade Social Studies, Public Speaking, and Journalism
- Served as an Advisor to a group of 6th – 8th graders. Facilitated discussions and activities on study skills, portfolio planning, community service, and life skill topics.
- Collaborated with the middle school team to implement a student laptop program, and to determine the best methods to maximize learning and teaching practices
- Sponsored the Model United Nations Club.

2001 – 2006 Glenbrook North High School, Northbrook, IL
- Taught 9th grade World History, 10th grade Sociology, 11th and 12th grade Psychology, 11th grade U.S. History, and 10th grade Simulation – a class on the Middle East Peace Process.
- Sponsored the Model United Nations Club and the Indian Pakistani Club.
- Granted Tenure at the end of the 2005.

2000 – 2001 Nichols Middle School, Evanston, IL
- Taught 7th and 8th graders in English Literature and Reading Resource, a course designed to boost students’ reading skills.
- Recognized by the district superintendent for coaching students to win first place out of 200+ schools in the National WordMasters Challenge
- Sponsored Student Council.

1996 – 1997 Languages At Work, Prague, Czech Republic
- Taught grammatical, business, and conversational English to Czech teenagers and adult professionals.
- Led both intermediate and advanced level classes ranging in size from three to ten students.

2006 – 2009 Served on Hong Kong Academy Curriculum Committee, a
committee designed to develop middle school standards and
benchmarks. Also served on the High School Development Committee, a committee devoted to strategizing the creation and implementation of a high school program at Hong Kong Academy.

June – July 2005 Fulbright Scholar. Selected to study for three weeks in Morocco and two weeks in southern Spain with 15 other American educators, exploring the history and spread of Islam in northern Africa and southern Spain.
