EXPERIENCE
Designer and Creator of Form over Function Studios
January 2021 – Present
Form over Function is an independent contemporary art-furniture design studio based in Jakarta, Indonesia that explores the dialogical relationship between the natural and industrial through creating designs that blur the distinctions between art and functionality. Along with designing furniture, I prototype them, manage and oversee production with my vendors, consult with clients, operate the branding, marketing, as well as finances of the studio. My works aim to restore corporeality and probe phenomenological experiences in design through looking to biomorphic forms in nature that can invite abstract metaphors of the organic and fluid into the realm of the rigid and industrial. Materials that I work with include, metal, plaster, Styrofoam, resin, ceramic, and wood. Pieces that I have produced and officially launched and sold include the mitosis couch, and a large sittable and interactive installation called the Umbilical Nest. Alongside processing orders and working on website and catalog development I’m in the process of launching new designs in April 2021: a reservoir chair made out of resin, a tri-surface wooden and resin modular table that can be arranged into complex structures, and a resin and leather armchair inspired by the form of a mushroom.

Research and Curatorial Intern at Duta Fine Arts Foundation
May 2020 – August 2020
Duta Fine Arts is a gallery and museum space in South Jakarta, Indonesia that collects over 4000 works of painting and sculpture that traces the history of Indonesian art from the 18th century up to the modernist and post-war period. As a summer intern, my job was to work closely with the curator and collector in researching and cataloging the museum’s archive and developing a curatorial rationale for the permanent collection display in preparation for the museum’s opening in 2022. In addition, I was involved in organizing the gallery and museum’s collection’s paintings and oversaw and managed the restoration processes. With my team members, I also helped develop branding and virtual infrastructure for the foundation which is currently still under development.

Director of Branding at Ivy Film Festival
September 2019 – Present
As the branding director, my role is to lead, design, and curate the visual identity of the festival along with members of my branding team. I work with a creative team of illustrators, graphic and motion graphic designers to come up with the color story, typography, logo, virtual posters, videos, merchandise, booklets, and many more elements that consolidate the visual brand of the festival. I work closely with the other directors of the various departments in the organization to coordinate our marketing strategy to optimize audience engagement. Ivy Film Festival is the largest student-run film festival in the world annually hosted on the campus of Brown University. Festival week features include advanced screenings of feature films, panels, keynotes, workshops, and masterclasses with professionals in the industry.

Founder of Art for Refuge
June 2017 – June 2019
Art for Refuge is a social initiative program that seeks to empower refugee students in Indonesia through art. For three years I thought weekly art classes at a local refugee learning center and organized fundraising events for refugee education through small-scale exhibitions. In September 2018 I organized and curated an exhibition called Berdiam/Bertanding (to stay/to visit) at the National Gallery of Indonesia in collaboration with the United Nations Refugee Agency whereby we showcased a culmination of the student’s artwork alongside the works of refugee artists and Indonesian artists that aim to showcase the multi-faceted subjectivities surrounding the issue. With the charity auction of the student’s work, we managed to raise over $15,000 to support refugee education in Indonesia.
