Community Involvement & V olunteer Service During High School
Peer Assistance & Leadership Group � 2 Years � 11th and 12 th grade
� Peer Helping Program - selected and trained to assist teachers in the classroom, serve as role model
and mentor utilizing leade rship qualities and interp ersonal relationship building skills to encourage
improved self esteem and responsible behavior amongst elementary school students ranging from
grades 3 to 4.
� In my f irst year serv ing as a Peer Assistant Leader , (PAL) , I was assigned to a gym class in whic h I
would show up every other day and help watch over 60 k ids, and do my best to make their days
better.
� In my Second year I was assigned to a classroom with many of the same kids, I would spend roughly
30 minutes with one class of about 25 kids then a ne w class would come in. I would assist in teach ing
them to read, write, and do whatever I could to help the Teacher.
