Internship

Dear Internship Coordinator,

I am writing to apply for the summer internship, in Los Angeles for the social media internship, a position that was listed on the barefoot student website. I am a freshman at Santa Monica College majoring in history. I believe my experience and motivation make an ideal candidate for the 2021 summer internship.

I have had a great deal of experience and projects that I took part in: immigration, LGBTQ+ rights, school to prison pipeline issues and many more with the unjust issues of America. Most of my experience pertains to social justice and volunteering in aims to making change. I am currently working with a great amount of organizations as a youth organizer to begin and plan numerous projects that target social inequity, climate change and the injustices that the LGBTQ+ communities face. I know making change through policy is a component of this internship, and I know my previous experiences makes me a prime candidate for this.

Last year, I was a peer team leader in Changeist, a non-profit organization, where I worked with a college-aged student to help lead middle school youth in different social justice issues. I conducted facilitation for serious and impactful issues amongst the youth toward an externship where middle school students can become influenced to create change. Oftentimes, I led students across Los Angeles as we worked with other organizations.

I believe that I would be an asset to your internship program. This internship would provide me with the ideal opportunity to assist your organization and to expand my research skills.

I will email you in about two months to see if you agree that my qualifications seem to be a match for the position. If so, I hope to schedule an interview at a mutually convenient time. I look forward to speaking with you.

Thank you for your consideration,

Sincerely,

Jeanine Grimes
