Work and Volunteer Experience
Assistant Teacher of Italian in the Modern Languages and Literature Department at Kenyon College
• Assistant Teachers (or ATs) are integral for the Modern Languages and Literature department. The department’s
philosophy regarding languages is that a student must be fully immersed in a language in order to actually learn it. Introduction language classes meet five times a week with their Professor and three times a week with the student Assistant Teacher. In doing so, students gain the valuable opportunity to converse in their language of study with fellow students.
• My duties include setting up a 50 minute lesson plan, having the necessary conversational skills to answer questions and conduct exercises in Italian and grading their assignments. Unfortunately, while I was able to complete training, the pandemic has severely limited AT sessions and I am currently only teaching one class a day.
Intern for Mount Vernon, OH Law Director P. Robert Broeren 09/19-12/19
• As part of a Community Internship Program at Kenyon College, I was selected as a legal intern for the Law Director
for city of Mount Vernon, OH. The Law Director prosecuted misdemeanors in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court
• My duties included writing and sending notices to the victims of defendant’s charges and convictions (or lack
thereof), as is their legal right to know. I also assisted the Victim Advocate of the Office in reaching out and meeting
with victims.
