Summary
Worked in a biochemistry/inorganic research lab performing synthetic chemistry. My main goal was to create a nitric oxide generator to analyze how nitric oxide bound to heme proteins involved in the nitrogen cycle. Also, to see how the protein truncated hemoglobin N, the protein that allows tuberculosis to survive infection of macrophages, digests nitric oxide into nitrate. The compound consisted of an organic ligand bound to a manganese ion.
