Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (2007 to Present)
Oversee mechanical designs for entire Blackboard Transact products, including sheet metal design, plastic injection design, billet aluminum machined products design, and light pipe displays. Utilize 3D modeling and 2D drafting techniques for designing hardware products through SolidWorks and related add-ins, such as APEX light ray tracing and simulations. Institute quality inspection procedures for production/contract manufactures and maintained number systems and data entry for entire parts in people-soft system for all Transact hardware products. Supervise engineering change order/request system maintenance by scheduling bi-monthly ECO meeting with engineering and production teams. Assigned relevant tasks to hardware team members and arranged scrum/Jira meetings.
• Developed prototype products, tested in-house and purchased mechanical parts, while managed Bill of Materials (BOM) for entire Transact hardware products.
• Designed the WR5000, an in wall mounted card reader for class attendance, as well as developed the DR5000, the smallest RFID card reader for door monitoring hardware.
