Goal & Skills

I am a university research professor of logic & philosophy with a physics background looking to leave academia to find a position in which I can utilize my years of experience in education while continuing to educate and write—but in a manner different from that of academia. I’m best at mastering complex and ambiguous information, evaluating it, asking the most challenging questions about it, and then communicating the information, the questions, and the evaluation in written or oral form while maximizing efficiency and comprehension.

Primary Background

Philosophy, physics, symbolic logic, math; Philosophy Prof. 2000-present; PhD Philosophy, MA Physics, BS Engineering Physics. Philosophy research grant winner. Research positions in four countries.

Oral and Written Communication

• Thousands of presentations to diverse audiences in many countries.
• Published four books and dozens of professional articles.
• Published articles for a lay audience.
• Wrote full-length novel.
• Wrote user manuals for new in-house software.
• Webinar & presentations on (i) presentations, (ii) brainstorming, and (iii) the writing process.

Consultant Work

Consultant for Oxford University Press and many top-tier professional journals. Consultant for tenure evaluation cases. Editor of Epistemology of Disagreement section on PhilPapers, the world’s primary philosophy database. Free-lance mentor for PhD and early career philosophers.

Technical Competency

Expertise in applying propositional, predicate, modal, and mathematical logic. Taught the operation and use of oscilloscopes and other sophisticated laboratory apparatus to physics students; designed prezis; performed many physics experiments, collected the data, and analyzed them; constructed 5-year budgets on appropriate software.
