EXPERIENCE

SENIOR DBA, PRA HEALTH SCIENCES
Database management and support including capacity planning, logical and physical database design and installation. Administered over 600 databases at PRA locations worldwide. Participated in on-call rotation for all databases in the company.

Worked closely with the development teams to resolve application performance issues. This included the tuning and monitoring of the system performance using Sqltrace, OEM, PL/SQL Developer, and TKPROF utilities.

Worked with end users and Oracle Support to resolve production issues. Used Oracle Support for troubleshooting Oracle problems, as well as performing Exadata patching and maintenance.

Multiple databases upgrades to Oracle 9i, 10g, 11c and 12c. This included hardware planning, pre-install checking and software installation, and patch installation. Also performed quarterly, CPU, and one-off patching at the database and server levels.

Developed and supported multiple applications using Oracle Developer, Oracle Application Express, and PL/SQL Developer. Created and maintained Oracle procedures, functions and packages for these applications using PL/SQL. Apex administrator for all applications from 2007 to 2018.

Supported Oracle, 3rd-party and in-house applications including Oracle AERS, Oracle Apex, eClinical Data Manager, DataLabs RDE, Oracle Clinical, Siebel, Lawson, and more.

Trained Oracle DBAs on database creation and maintenance procedures. In 2015, trained all DBAs in managed service group on PRA procedures and policies.

Scripted jobs for physical and logical backups to local machines as well as external backup appliances in SQL. Performed backups and restorations as needed. Created OEM jobs to automate backups and other maintenance tasks.

Created database entry screens using VAX FMS and DLB Recorder.

Created and maintained edit check programs using SAS and PL/SQL.

Developed and maintained several customized software systems such as PEPC (Coding Tool) and CRF Tracker using VAX FMS, VAX C and SAS. Also converted these to run in Oracle Forms at a later date. Then converted to run in Oracle Apex.

Converted several in-house systems (GDE, PTR, AUTO, MIS, and TIME) to be Y2K compliant. These systems were written in VAX C, VAX BASIC, and SAS.

Conducted ad hoc problem solving, trained new staff, and provided software and technical instruction to other PRA functional groups worldwide.

Performed code review and metric analysis of Trident submarine high level code using Fortran and C. Created aircraft maintenance database in DB3 for PAX River Air station.
