Led and assisted on a multitude of small press tasks, including day to day administration, as well as more substantial projects. Acted as a first reader of proposals, as well as a bookkeeper.

Permafrost Magazine Editor-in-Chief
Communicated with and oversaw genre editors, designers, and reading staff to remain on schedule for winter print issue and summer online issue. Managed magazine’s budget to account for costs such as printing and shipping, various advertising platforms, and travel to the annual AWP Conference.

? Oversaw proofreading and copy editing of all published pieces.

Austin Film Festival Script Reader
Acts as a first-round reader for various script-writing competitions at the Austin Film Festival. Reads both features and pilots, provides thoughtful notes to the screenwriter, and returns a yes/no decision to programmers at AFF.

“The Whiles” Screenwriter, Director, Producer, Editor
Ran the start-to-finish production of an original short film. Created shot-lists, organized production set, managed filming schedule, rented/handled equipment. Co-wrote original script with film partner.

Teaching + Instructing Experience

University of Alaska Fairbanks College Writing Instructor
Individually planned, taught, and graded a second-level college writing course. Developed a syllabus, daily lesson plans, major assignments, and readings/viewings for students based on class theme, “Life on Mars: Inventing Our Future Through Science Fiction.”

UAF Writing Center Associate Director
Acted as director of the university writing center during summer class session. In addition to tutoring students on a variety of writing projects, also managed the writing center space, maintained inventory, advertised services, and served as a bridge of communication between instructors and students.
