Robotic-Recycling Simulation, Rice University 2014 – 2015
• Initiated project to improve algorithms for robotic arms to grab objects off a conveyor belt
• Programmed graphical simulation of a piece of Waste Management’s single stream recycling facility
• Developed custom mathematical model for optimal robotic arm motion

Project Leader for ‘Smart Trash Cans’, Rice University Spring 2012 - Fall 2013
• Prototyped trash cans equipped with embedded hardware to measure and store changing weight of can
• Developed project to give feedback on an individual’s food waste to encourage their reduction of waste
• Conducted market research, presented prototype, and gave sales pitch to Waste Management
• Awarded Endowment for Sustainable Environmental Technology grant for $2,000
