EXPERIENCE

BOOKKEPER, HEALY AND ASSOCIATES CPA
I learned a lot about the interworking of how a small office environment operates while working as a bookkeeper for a CPA. This job is ultimately what led me to have a better understanding of financial and business jargon and apply it to personal finances. It was standard 9pm-5am full-time job. My responsibilities included working on tax returns for clients, bookkeeping work for 12 different small LLC companies. This included using Microsoft excel to draft spread sheets for assets, liabilities, gross profit and cash flow. I also extensively used the application QuickBooks which allowed for input of employee pay, check stubs, and accounts receivable and payable. I spent a lot of time using office equipment such as printers and fax machines and also worked partially as a secretary by greeting customers upon arrival, scheduling appointments to meet with the CPA, and answer phone calls. This job required focus and close attention to detail to avoid any mistakes.

SALES ASSOCIATE, SAVERS THRIFT STORE
This was a thrift store where I worked at POS. I was exposed to a lot of customer interaction here and it was my first time working in a fast-paced environment. Apart from ringing up customers, my duties included closing and opening the cash register I was assigned to, stocking store items, answering phone calls, both opening and closing the store, and occasionally I worked at the drop off site and would carry large items being donated from customers into the store. The store has since gone out of business.

SERVER AND COOK, LITTLE CREPERIE
This was a small business café that specialized in designing Crepes for customers. I was a shift supervisor and had the responsibility of both opening and closing the store. I familiarized myself with POS at this job, while also being one of the two cooks who designed the crepes. I also played a role in doing catering events, parties, and charities. This job is what I contribute most to providing me with exceptional communication skills because of the constant customer interaction. I also played a role in designing the specialty and seasonal crepes. Making the crepes for the customers was my favorite part of the job and when it would get busy, it taught me how to stay focused and calm under pressure. Especially since the customers actually watch as you make the crepes for them. I learned to multitask well with making multiple crepes at once on the two burners here.
