Resume and Cover Letter

Dear Recruiting Representative,

My name is Andrew Chrepta and I am currently a sound engineer looking for full time employment in any area of the music or audio world. Recently I graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Music & Technology with a minor in Visual Arts & Technology. Outside of the classroom, most of my time was spent founding a booking agency named SUMAC, which stands for Stevens Underground Music Appreciation Committee. Lately, I’ve been working as an audio engineer for a local music venue and hotel chain alongside some freelance work. I am looking for something new, exciting, and challenging, so I may learn and grow from operating with a team again. I hope a position at your company can provide me with this opportunity.

A large amount of my skills from SUMAC are directly transferable to the recorded music industry, primarily my past negotiations of contracts between artists, vendors, and event security. Outside of talent booking, I have administrative experience with handling invoices, tax forms, travel arrangements, and planning the use of an annual five-figure budget. My management experience includes hiring and teaching small teams to layout stage and audio equipment, effectively sell tickets, and promote events in person or online. The foremost lesson learned from forming SUMAC was to answer immediately and punctually, as other agencies, artists, and customers absolutely love to do business with somebody who works around them.

Spending my last four years as an engineer, producer, and businessman has given me a thorough workflow unique from other candidates. Right now, I am honing my skills to think on my feet efficiently while running daily entertainment events for Salt Hotels. Overcoming the challenge of having a few hours to plan and engineer productions by myself is tough, but a welcome obstacle. I feel quite comfortable in situations that require precision, proper communication, and execution of plans. My experience has helped me become a self-starter, a hard worker, and a quick learner, eager to prove myself in the music industry. I believe I would be a great fit for this position, as we share a common passion for producing high quality and creative content.
I have attached my resume and can be contacted via cell phone at------------ or through my email at AJC------------. I look forward to hearing back from you!

Sincerely,
Andrew Chrepta
