Work History

Akzo Nobel (1979-1991)
McCook, Il 60525

Designed, built, and operated lab scale and pilot plant reactors (batch, column, and CSTRs) for the continuous production of fatty acid from triglycerides. Designed experiments to optimize lipase immobilized on various polymer supports Designed experiments to define kinetics for lipase catalyzed reactions. Developed methods for the analysis of diisocynates, their precursors, and fatty acid nitrogen derivatives. Analyzed experimental and commercial chemicals using GC, UV, HPLC, IR, AA, and wet analysis. Co-Authored two patents and a publication in the field of enzyme catalysis.

Dow Chemical (1991-1998)
Joliet, IL 60535

Developed and commercialized portable polyurethane foam systems for construction applications. Conducted experiments to optimize formulation to meet product specifications. Scaled-up laboratory formulations to plant productions. Optimized plant processing conditions, Developed QC tests and raw material specifications. Interacted with raw material suppliers. Participated in joint research/marketing/production teams. Provided technical support to customers at their locations. Presented technical seminars to customers. Supervised plant personnel and summer students. Summarized research projects, prepared reports, and gave oral presentations.

Authored proposal and was awarded a research contract from the U.S. Department of Defense. This research lead to the development of a high density, fluorescent foam system for humanitarian demining.

Independent Investor (1998- present)

Managed personal portfolio using stochastics modeling, relative strength index, and covered calls to generate income based on sector strength and economics. Used technical websites, financial news, quarterly reports, and my financial advisor’s recommendations to make investment decisions.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Chemistry (1985)
