WORK HISTORY IN ACADEMIA AND BIOTECH COMPANIES

9/98 - 8/02 Research Specialist II for Brian K. Kobilka, M.D., Nobel Prize, Chemistry 2012
Stanford University, Stanford, CA http://med.stanford.edu/kobilkalab/
Maintained colonies of adrenergic knockout mice (?1, ?2, ?1?2, ?2A, ?2B, ?2C, & ?2A?2C).
Distributed knockout mice with protocols for genotyping to the Jackson Laboratory ------------/ , interested collaborators and other investigators.
Replaced Southern blot genotyping with PCR genotyping for mice colonies.
Expressed ?2-adrenoceptor in Pichia pastoris.
Made TEV (Tobacco Etch Virus) mutants of the human ?2- adrenoceptor to study ligand receptor interactions.
Responsible for safe use and disposal of all chemicals and radioactive materials.

7/98 - 9/98 Temp employed through BioSource assigned at Affymetrix, Santa Clara, CA
Designed PCR primers for quality control (Q.C.) of RNA.
Prepared total RNA and did Q.C. by RT_PCR, electrophoresis, UV spectrophotometry & Northern blotting.
Genechip analyzed mRNA in-house and for Stanford University.

4/98 - 6/98 Intern at Genetic Information Research Institute, Mountain View, CA
Created a database of bacterial repetitive elements.
Selected and scored new consensus sequences for human repetitive sequence database. Expanded repetitive sequences to create new consensus sequences.

7/92 - 5/95 Research Assistant II, CLONTECH Laboratories, Mountain View, CA
Began development of Tet-On/Tet-Off gene expression system.
Began development of GenomeWalker Universal Kit.
Co-developed The Delta RNA Fingerprinting Kit.
Sequenced 2.6 kb ?-amylase gene, Sanger method.
Developed Human yeast artificial chromosome (YAC) DNA PCR screening kit.

5/92 - 6/92 Temp at SangStat Medical, Mountain View, CA
Development of cartridge based rapid detection ELISA.

01/92 - 5/92 Temp at ESCAgenetics, San Carlos, CA
Development of competitive Taxol ELISA. Developed HPLC validation assay for Taxol. Created standard operating procedures (SOP).

09/91 - 10/91 Temp employed through Manpower at Institute of Cancer and Developmental Biology, Syntex, Palo Alto, CA
Developed assays for evaluating monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to screen tumors using: affinity chromatography, ELISA, SDS PAGE, Western blots, serum protein electrophoresis, & radial immunodiffusion.
