Research Assistant
Creating a database and survey on public procurement agencies and governance in Latin America. Writing supplemental reports on the countries in Latin America that experienced significant public procurement corruption cases within the past decade in order to understand how public procurement corruption occurs.
Compiling information on military background of political leaders in Venezuela into a database. Creating visual representations of data through graphs to understand changes in military role in governance over time, along with possible geographic concentrations of military power.
Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE), Los Angeles, CA
Programs and Public Policy Intern Nov. 2018 - June 2019
Drafted policy memos regarding Public Charge Rule, Assembly Bill 302 and similar legislation to state representatives. Assisted in lobbying efforts by briefing staff on proposed legislation and the various significant supporters of the legislation.
Researched energy legislation and analyzed data from surveys regarding Latina opinions on energy issues, which was used to create energy workshops for the HOPE Leadership Institute and an online Energy Policy Toolkit.
Conference and Events Intern Nov. 2018 - June 2019
Communicated and coordinated with California state representative district offices, LAUSD Board of Education members, and community leaders in order to secure their participation as speakers and panelists in the 2019 Latina Empowerment Day, Latina History Day, and Latina Action Day conferences.
Completed various administrative tasks including keeping track of the budget for various events and programs, updating the database of sponsors and donors, and completing annual filings for 501(c)(3) nonprofits.
Sustainability Action Research (SAR), UCLA
Zero-Waste Team Leader Jan. 2019 - June 2019
Led on-campus zero-waste initiative and research project in collaboration with UCLA Facilities Management. Implemented thirty compost, recycling, and tri-waste bins in the Charles E. Young Research Library (YRL), which achieved a 60% diversion rate in the amount of waste going to landfill during a single day at YRL.
