I currently attend Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. In two months, the beginning of May, I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. While I plan to take some time off before entering graduate school, to make money and gain experience, I plan to go back to get my Masters in Speech-Language Pathology eventually.
Over the last 5-6 years, I have worked with, observed, and mentored various Speech-Language Pathologists, with a concentration on children. I have experience in both school and in home settings, helping implement speech, language, and overall development. Over the years I have been able to observe and experience many diverse therapy sessions, with diverse children, whose diagnosis range from mild-severe. I have been fortunate to be hands on, and have even been able to run a few therapy sessions under the supervision of a licensed SLP. Additionally, I have been employed as a babysitter for the last 4 years, working with many different families in the Bloomington area, with a wide age range of children. Therefore, I have much experience with children overall, as well as kids with disabilities or disorders. I feel comfortable around both children and parents, as well as working alongside other professionals, and feel comfortable asking and answering questions. In high school, I was a lifeguard, so I worked well on a team and also have been through several CPR certifications, which I feel comfortable renewing as well.
Lastly, my skills include: higher order thinking, working well with others, being a leader, effectively communicating, asking and answering questions as needed, being responsible, personable, and ultimately joyful. Additionally, I am reliable, charismatic, takes criticism well, experienced, and always willing to learn and grow within the field/career I am in and within myself.
