Objective
To obtain an internship position in the Editing/Writing field where I can utilize my work experience and education, and hopefully earn some valuable experience to use presumably in the future.
Education
Queensborough Community College Fall 2018 - Spring 2020/21
Majoring in Liberal Arts, in concentration with English.
Freshman. Planning to transfer to Queens College as a Media Studies or English Major.
Member of the Creative Writing Club and QCC Tigerettes.
The Grammar School, Limassol (high school) Fall 2014 - Spring 2018
3.2 GPA in high school.
Earned honors in Art and Graphics, along with an honorable mention in English.
Work Experience
STO PERAMA - Limassol
Waitress 07/17 - 09/17
- Worked at my native country, Cyprus, Limassol, as a waitress at our family restaurant.
- Assisted customers with orders and reservations.
- Became more independent and was taught discipline.
- Learned how to balance my time and dedication evenly to both school and work.
- Handled the setup, service and daily operations of table serving an international clientele, tourists and business travelers.
- Entered orders into POS (point of sale) system
- Earned commendations for exemplary service delivery (average of 100 guests per shift).
- Established positive rapport with customers, up-sold products and built a loyal clientele.
Achievements
- Member of the Newspaper Club in high school:
- Learned how to write interesting articles of various topics.
- Held questionnaires and surveys for the newspaper, which consisted of asking students some questions and forming them to data.
-Joined this club to upgrade my journalism skills and gain a better idea what it�s like to publish a newspaper.
- Made decisions regarding the layout of the newspaper and was personally chosen to design the whole layout and publish it.
- Developed my Illustrator and InDesign skills.
Member of the Music and Drama Club:
- Became more comfortable on stage and performing in front of the public.
- Fueled my interest in dancing and performing for an audience.
- Gained more teamwork skills from executing dance routines with partners and teams, along with an understanding of what it means to work together to put forward a successful performance.
- Decided to join because of my love for musicals and interest in learning how the theatre industry works.
Skills
- Can proofread with an open mind and think outside the box.
- Very organized and can arrange all sorts of things in an easy, productive order.
- Good communicator, an outgoing person with good teamwork skills and a strong incentive to get inspired.

Interests
- Been writing for many years and always had an immense passion for it.
- Began writing when I was influenced from a young age by my grandmother�s interest in journaling. From there I tried to upgrade my writing skills by reading books - the number one resource to literary evolving. I found myself being immensely interested in the romantic, fiction and mythological genre and earned a wide interest in philosophical reading as I got older.
- Through the Music & Drama Club I found myself also loving to dance which evolved into an incentive of expression for me.
- Won a writing competition in High School, Junior Year. The theme was Nature.
- In my free time I usually write, or design illustrations on Illustrator Adobe and post my content on my instagram, business account called Mel.Illustrations.
