Passionate Artist!
Hi, my name is Emma Anselm, I am a 22 year old artist and student from San Luis Obispo, California. I am very passionate about clay! I think I would be the right person for the studio tech position because I am eager to learn, a dedicated student and I want to become a better potter. I really want to have the skills and experience of loading and firing a kiln, working together in a team environment and seeing the process of how a studio runs. I have about six years of experience working with clay, starting in high school. I have taken many classes at both Cuesta Community College and San Francisco State University, where I am currently studying. I also have experience working in a private studio, Pottery Coast, so I know the amount of work that goes into making it succeed. I have experience in both handbuilding and throwing on the wheel. But throwing is really my passion. I also took a glaze making class last semester so I have some knowledge of the science and experimentation of glaze making. In the future, my goal is to also own and operate my own ceramics studio so this experience to learn from you would be really impactful. If there is the opportunity to assist in teaching classes I would love to learn. During the week I am pretty much dedicated to school, but Friday through Sunday I have full open availability.
