I am writing to apply for a summer social media internship at CR Fashion Book, as I believe my diligence, experience, and creativity make me a great candidate.
I am currently a sophomore at the University of Michigan majoring in Communications with a dual minor in Writing and Entrepreneurship. While only being a sophomore, I do have experience in the fields of marketing, branding, and fashion. Three summers ago, I interned for one month at .Cent Magazine, a fashion and lifestyle print and online publication based in London. During this internship, I published 9 articles on the online-site, with one of my articles receiving the most views in the website’s history. I also managed the magazine’s social media accounts. In addition, I attended and controlled the Twitter and Instagram accounts for the Scoop International Fashion Show, a trade show that showcases over 250 designers.
Beyond .Cent Magazine, In college I am the social media manager for the Michigan Fashion Media Summit (MFMS). The MFMS is a student-run organization that plans a day-long summit at the University of Michigan featuring executives in the fashion industry. Specifically, I am responsible for managing the MFMS’s social media sites (including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn).
I also write and report news stories weekly for The Michigan Daily at the University of Michigan. I publish weekly stories in this student run, independent newspaper covering faculty, sports, culture, and other topics affecting the lives of students. The Daily is one of the most well renowned student- run newspapers in the country with 7,5000 copies circulated per day and 230,000 monthly website viewers.
Lastly, this past summer I interned at Gale Branding, a PR and Branding firm based in New York City. This internship gave me experience in a professional public relations setting, in which I controlled the company and their clients’ social media sites (mainly in the fashion, retail, luxury, and real estate industries). I also aided in planning and executing major client events, such as Zen Fest in Manchester Vermont.
I believe that I will be an asset to your team, as I am a hard, diligent worker with experience in social media, marketing and journalism. I also have experience with graphic design through my positions at .Cent Magazine, Gale Branding, and the Michigan Fashion Media Summit. This internship will further my experience in both marketing and branding, along with push my creative boundaries. Thank you for your time and consideration!
