Official Resume

Hello, my name is Kylie Flannery! I’m a current student here at Stony Brook looking to dedicate my time to a job. I love being in a fast-paced or intense environment with colleagues, it allows me to stay on my toes and get what needs to be done. If there’s one thing I’m known for, it’s being peppy! I’m a people person and love to both help and serve everyone if it makes them happy. Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider me in your application process!
EXPERIENCE
SEPTEMBER 2016 – AUGUST 2018
WAITRESS, CHINA MAPLE
At China Maple I was primarily a waitress, I was always polite with customers while taking their orders, refilling drinks, getting the food to them, and bussing the tables. I also answered the phones to take people’s orders and always made sure the orders were correct with a positive attitude. I learned how to both gauge and handle almost any situation regarding belligerent or upset customers.
AUGUST 2015 – JUNE 2018
AVID MENTOR, SMITHSBURG HIGHSCHOOL
During all four years of high school, I was a part of a rigorous program call AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) but was only a mentor for three. It focused on our ability to collaborate, inquire, and organize our curriculum. As a mentor I lead discussions for younger AVID students as well as our TRF (Tutorial Request Form) groups. In these groups of four to ten students would go up individually to present a point of confusion and rely on the rest of the group for help. What made it so interactive was that the other students could only help the presenter solve their point of confusion by asking questions; no one was allowed to simply give the answer. As a group everyone had to solve the problem and, in turn, everyone’s skills got better. Students were able to pin point their exact confusions, articulate better questions, learn to rely on one another in a way that didn’t make them dependent, and better prepare themselves for college.

JANUARY 2019- PRESENT
CURATOR OF TRAVEL APP, ONLINE
On an app available on any app store known as AMINO, I help run a community on travelling as a curator. My main job is to welcome all our members, answeri questions, keeping people involved, and getting new members. I regularly must come up with social media challenges, trivial posts, and simply fun or informative posts that gain attention. I love to do blogs on the environment and awareness when trying to get people in the community involved; people not only join in on the fun but they learn as they do.The amino had around eleven thousand members when I became a curator and we now have over twelve thousand!

MARCH 2019- PRESENT
DOMINO’S CUSTOMER SERVICE, STONY BROOK NEW YORK
I’ve always loved a fast-paced environment, so working at the Domino’s right off Stony Brook campus was an easy yes for me. I mostly work in the back; making pizzas, preparing food, answering the phones, and communicating with the delivery drivers. There is always a constant stream of orders, so I’ve learned to stay calm while working under the time pressure to have the orders ready. I also interact with customers over the phone, so I make sure to stay professional and polite.
EDUCATION
JUNE 2018
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, SMITHSBURG HIGH SCHOOL
Not only did I graduate with an above 3.5 GPA, I made sure to leave a lasting impact on my high school. In my sophomore year I was the secretary of my class and helped with fundraising for our senior prom. From my freshman year to graduating I was in the AVID program and would always visit the middle school to help out when I wasn’t tutoring or mentoring. Due to my grades I joined NSHSS (National Society of High School Scholars) as well. Being involved was important to me to I always participated in my school’s annual food drive with a local foodbank called Tabatha’s Table. Along with these I joined my school’s drama club and played Lucy in Dracula, was part of the creative writing club, as well as Latin club! I took Latin for three years both for the history of the language and to better understand others since it’s the base of many other languages.
MAY 2022
