Dear Hiring Manager,

It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my application for the online General
Psychology Adjunct Instructor with Pierce Mortuary College. With my Bachelor of Health
Science Degree from Columbus State University and graduate courses I have taken in social
work at Troy University, I know that my skills and qualifications will make me an asset to your
team. I have studied and conducted research in this field while developing technical skills
utilizing computer programs used for higher education and Microsoft suites to name a few. My
educational background has equipped me with knowledge in the field of General Psychology.
In the pursuit of my education I have taken it upon myself to venture out and take classes
in psychology outside of my degree plan, exploring my passion in psychology. I have also had
the opportunity to conduct research in psychology. I have studied psychological theories and
perspectives in relation to the Mortuary realm such as Kubler-Ross’s theory of the five stages of
grief and how each stage could influence an individual. My graduate research also allowed me to
explore Theories of Psychology and culture diversity and sensitivity.
Most importantly, my education has granted me the opportunity to teach students in
higher education. I have taught students with current educational methodologies and online
technical platforms such as YouTube, Poll Me, Canvas and Blackboard. I have also
evaluated, prepared and assessed projects, midterms and finals based on course objectives and
returned assignments and grades within a timely manner.
In addition to my education, I feel that my working experience helped me to enhance my
capabilities to work with professionals, conduct research, and teach. I gained experience in
communicating information and utilized multiple software programs to complete many job
functions. I have worked with culturally diverse employees and clients in applying the
appropriate psychological perspectives and crisis intervention when working with individuals. I
have also had the opportunity to teach and communicate information with oral, written and
online platforms to small and large groups of individuals with information that I have gathered
and analyzed.
I am confident that my studies combined with successful experience will enable me to
effectively pursue a career as Adjunct Instructor. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to
speaking with you soon.

Best Regards,
Naeisha Patterson
