Professional Experience

June 2012 – Current – Master 5
Pacific Marine Group Pty Ltd
I have been working at PMG for 6 years. During this time, I have been lucky enough to be employed in many different positions throughout the company, both on shore and on the vessels. These roles have included:
• Laborer – I first started as a labourer in 2014 after I completed high school and my divemaster’s course
• T/A – In order to learn more about the company and the industry I became a technical Assistant to the diesel fitter’s department, gaining valuable knowledge and a love for engines
• Forklift operator – I gained my forklift license to facilitate the more effective execution of my duties as a labourer and yard worker
• Dogger – after 3 months at the business, they put me through my doggers course in order to enable me to assist with unloading/loading the vessels using the on-site cranes
• Working at Heights – I gained my working at heights to enhance my abilities and scope of work as a dogman
• Confined space entry specialist – Due to demand for motivated employee’s in confined space, they put me through the course. After 6 months of operating in all manner of hazardous confined voids, the company opted to put me in control of the work team assigned to the work, in order to allow the work to be completed more speedily and safely. In the course of this I worked with the WHS manager to design and implement a number of new safety procedures and protocols.
• Deckhand – The company gained more work overseas and had a shortage of workers, so I opted to gain my STCW95 in order to work on the vessels. After having done so, I became a GPH and worked on a number of different tug and barge combo’s in a variety of places, primarily through Northern Queensland.
• Engineer – After several months working on the boats as a GPH I acquired my MED3 and Coxswains to further enhance my knowledge and capabilities of engines and the marine industry. In the course of this process I also completed the Master 5 and MED 2 courses, but for political reasons, did not receive final accreditation.
• Finance Officer – Since I began my university degree, the company has acknowledged my growing skill base, allowing me to partake in more of the management processes, for this reason I was assigned to work under the Finance Manger at PMG, auditing a subsidiary of PMG for inefficiencies, and reporting the findings directly the Managing Director.

December 2013 – March 2014 – Divemaster
Pro-Dive Cairns
Plan implement and control divers in and out of the water, provide entertainment, information and assistance wherever required either under direction of the Skipper/Instructor or alone.
Key responsibilities
• Ensure the safety of everyone on the vessel

• Clean and maintain the vessel and equipment to a high standard
• Clean and repair elements of the vessel such as accommodation and heads as needed

March 2009 – September 2013
Ibiza Café, WayFit
Throughout the course of highscool, I worked in both a local upmarket café within the Avalon area of Sydney as a waiter, barman and sue chef.
