Agape Family Services
RE: Parent Aide
To Agape Family Services,

Hello sir or mam. I hope you are doing well today. I am writing to you because as someone who has been a student and worked jobs in both the activism and childhood development realms, the posting for Parent Aide with Agape Family Services has come to my attention and I am very interested. Child rights and child safety are both issues that are very important to me. When reviewing the job requirements and your website, I was excited to see that my qualifications and personal traits align with your needs and mission.
I have skills that I believe will be valuable to Agape Family Services. When I worked classrooms at the early start of my career building and in the Head Start program, I used and improved my abilities in observing and collaboration. During my internship at the Humane Society of the United States, I participated in various conference calls and in-person meetings where I used and improved my abilities in communication. All this and all the childhood and activism qualifications that are on my resume provides a solid foundation for the Parent Aide position. My motivation, my people-centric nature, the fact that I am a hard-worker and my eagerness to please have given me excellent organization skills.

I am excited to possibly be able to contribute my strengths and proficiency in collaboration toward your team efforts. As a personable communicator with a proven track record in organization and dedication, my focus on building strong professional relationships and always learning more has been a valuable asset throughout my life.
Please take time to review my resume for a complete collection of my work history and accomplishments. I would like to schedule an interview at your earliest convenience. I'm hoping to discuss with you how my passion for helping children in need and work history fit the Agape Family Services Parent Aide role.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Jill Robinson

OBJECTIVE
My goal is to maintain the things I’ve already learned and experienced and gain new learning and work experiences through a paid job to be able to better myself and the world around me.

EDUCATION
• Nipomo Elementary and Dana Elementary Schools in Nipomo, California

• Hurley Elementary School and St. Paul’s Junior High in Visalia, California

• Diploma from Immanuel High School in Reedley, California in 2010

• Associate degree in Liberal Arts: Social and Behavioral Sciences from Allan Hancock community College in Santa Maria, California and at Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo, California. (2010-2014)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Human Development from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona (2014-2017)

• Human Rights Certificate at ASU (in progress). I started in January of 2018.

EXPERIENCE
• In 2007 I volunteered with ASPCA in Visalia, California. I helped out at an animal fair where potential pet owners came to look at the animals to adopt them.

• In 2008 I attended Neighborhood Church in Visalia, California. During Spring break, I volunteered with my church community at a local elementary school. We helped them put together a school carnival. In addition to that, we helped the community of Visalia by doing community services like cleaning trash off the streets and gardening in community parks.

• While I was attending Immanuel High School, I also did community service with my senior class in 2010. My service group and I helped the kids and teachers in the classrooms at Windsor Elementary School in Reedley, California.

• During my first semester in Community College in 2010 in Nipomo, California, I worked two afternoons a week in a 1st-grade classroom at Dorothea Lange Elementary School. I helped students with classwork and helped supervise kids at recess.

• In the Fall semester of 2013, I took a Child Development class that required me to create teaching lessons and teach them to a group of children throughout the semester in a Head Start Center on the Campus of Allan Hancock Community College.

• In the summer of 2013 while visiting my dad, I spent a lot of my time doing an unpaid internship in Gold Canyon, AZ at a daycare establishment called Kiddy Korner Daycare Center where I supervised and played with the kids throughout the day.

• During my last semester of Community College in the spring of 2014, I took a Child Development class that required me to observe the behavior of children and how it develops in a Head Start Center on the Campus of Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo, California.

• In 2015, I attended Antioch Community Church. For a year, I worked in their child care center helping take care of the kids while their parents were attending the church service.

• In 2016, one of the classes I had at Arizona State University was CDE 338. This class contained time working in one of the University’s child care centers. Our assignment was to spend 6 hours a week interning and learning how to help a teacher run a classroom.

• After I graduated with a degree in Family and Human Development from ASU in May of 2017, I took a semester off from school and worked with a Temp Agency called Delta T and was a substitute teacher in the Head Start program in Maricopa County. That started in August of 2017 ended in December 2017.

• Starting in November of 2017, I have been a member of Amnesty International. I attend the monthly Amnesty Tempe meetings and the weekly meetings for ASU’s chapter. With Amnesty I have participated mainly in marches/protests and their “Write for Rights” campaign.

• In January 2018, I joined a new non-partisan advocacy organization called One Resistance. Last semester I attended their “Womxn Helping Womxn” event where we donated items and made care packages for victims of domestic violence in partnership with the Sojourner Center Domestic Violence Shelter. Then in April 2018, we went to the shelter itself and helped clean and furnish apartments for victims to move into.

• In October of 2018, I helped plan a Mental Health Awareness event with One Resistance where people shared stories about their struggles and where we tried to tear down the stigmas.

• Also, in October of 2018, I started volunteering with an environmental organization called “Defend Our Future.” We advocated for better environmental practices on the individual and federal level. For the individual level we canvassed on ASU’s campus and for the federal level we did Congressman/woman office visits.

• Starting in January 2019 and ending April 2019, I interned with the Humane Society of the United States. I did various kinds of paper work for them, helped plan and tabled at events, participated in conference calls and protests and I participated in Humane Lobby Day at the Phoenix Capitol where we asked our representatives and Senators to vote on animal protection bills.
