Licensed Associate Counselor

Therapy is often a matter of tipping the first domino Milton Erickson

As a counselor, I encourage my clients to take the one, first step towards change.

As Erickson wrote, Don't ask why the patient is the way they are, ask for what they would change. With this written statement comes the first step toward working for your organization. I am even more excited for the second step, of hearing from you so we can gather to explore in what ways I can start using my skillset to serve your clients & change our community together.

I received my Licensed Associate Counselor at the end of March 2019. I graduated summa cum laude from Kean University, earning my masters in counseling. I have honed my skills studying REBT at Albert Ellis Institute in NYC, brief therapy at Milton Erickson Institute in Phoenix, AZ, and couples counseling through the Gottman Institute. I have recently completed the training in trauma competency to become a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

Experience gained through my year at an adult inpatient psychiatric unit, from providing individual counseling, leading Yalom-focused therapy groups, and supporting clients through milieu therapy, I found complementary to the evidence-based, research-driven pedagogy I received at university, forming my specific toolkit. The opportunity to develop and then lead a recurring 4-week, 12-module Rational Emotive Behavioral Group Therapy program during my time at an adult voluntary psychiatric unit assisted me in cultivating my skills in crafting client-centered programs that I plan to bring to my future employer.

Being the lead writer for Keans team in the 2015 ACAs ethics competition formally focused my reflection upon the current state of the mental health field, and how we have a responsibility to be agents of change. My desire for a chance to change the field one domino at a time has led me here, and for you to feel free in contacting me either at JasonS------------ or my cell,------------. I look forward to discussing the next steps with you.

Sincerely,
Jason Ian Sack
