The American Museum of Natural History is undergoing a major restoration project in their Northwest Coast Hall, including the conservation treatment of totem poles, several of which faced water damage after the sprinklers were activated during a fire in 2014.
• Created folders for Anthropology Conservation Department which detailed past conservation treatment as well as object histories- for conservators’ use prior to treatment.
• Conducted archival research on objects to be reinstalled in the Northwest Coast Hall.
• Handled and photographed objects to be added to conservation treatment files.
• Organized conservation files for small objects from the Northwest Coast Hall.
• Transcribed recordings from advisory consultations with Northwest Coast Native Americans on the history and proper treatment of objects being conserved in the Northwest Coast Collection. Transcriptions used by conservators to determine appropriate handling and treatment of objects, including Shamanic objects which require special care.
• Scanned slides to be added to conservation file folders.
• Worked in Collections to document Northwest Coast objects missing abalone for future repair and exhibition.

Chapel of the Good Shepherd Sculptures by Louise Nevelson: The white sculptures by Louise Nevelson in the Erol Beker Chapel of the Good Shepherd were overpainted shortly after their initial installation in 1977. The restoration paint, a water-based PVA, has degraded, and is being removed in order to reveal the underlying original alkyd paint.
• Aided in the removal of degraded PVA paint using NanoRestart Gel Systems.
• Consolidated flaking paint using mostly funori.
• Filled and toned losses.
• Answered questions about the nature of the conservation treatment being performed, in order to inform the public about the painstaking process.

Research Assistant, Center for the Study of Art and Design Materials, Pratt Institute, Math and Science Department

The Center for the Study of Art and Design Materials, established during winter 2016, aims to preserve and exhibit the multimedia artworks of former Pratt Institute Professor, Licio Isolani, for further study by the Pratt community.
• Planned storage for works of art within the archive located within the Center to ensure long-term preservation of works of art.
• Assisted in installation of exhibition held 18 April 2018: arranged an lit Isolani’s sculptures according to his instructions.
• Assisted in curation/installation of exhibition held 9 October 2018, featuring select works by Licio Isolani; chose artworks to be displayed, hung shelves, configured proper lighting.
• Regularly vacuumed/cleaned sculptures.
• Sorted through Isolani’s archives, organized archive according to material type.
• Triage treatments: flattened rolled paper, created temporary storage for works of art.
• Assisted in preparation of Pratt’s Science and Art Symposium V, held 18-19 April 2018. The Symposium brings together artists and scientists in order to bridge the gap between the two disciplines.

• Assisted in making PowerPoint presentations on the history of art in New Mexico, to be used in class.
• Created daily after-school activities, monitored children who participated.

Undergraduate Intern, the Bruce Silverstein Gallery

The Bruce Silverstein Gallery specializes in modern/contemporary works of art, mostly photography. The Gallery had recently relocated and required extensive cataloging of the collection, including locating artworks displaced during the move.
• Assisted Frances Jakubek, Head of Exhibitions, in research and clerical work, inventory and cataloging of artworks, installing exhibitions and conducting preliminary research. Notable exhibitions include the Armory Show, and an exhibition featuring the color photography of Nathan Lyons, held 27 March-2 April 2017.
• Used ArtSystems interface to document locations of works which had been displaced during relocation.
• Used Microsoft Excel to add clients to an ongoing email list; sent out emails regarding events at the Gallery.
• Transported recently purchased artworks from Christie’s auction house to the Gallery/private residences.
