Autonomous Micro Air Vehicle Group Oct. 2018-Present
Student Employee
• Working on the development of an autonomous quadrotor with a weight limitation of 500 grams
• Worked on altitude control where cascaded PID was used and an accuracy of 5 cm was achieved
• Developed software for target detection and visual servoing using python and OpenCV
• Distributed processing of algorithms is done using ROS with one master on-board processor

• Improved a motion detection algorithm using background subtraction which increased efficiency by 40 %
• Integrated the motion detection algorithm with car classification pipeline using thresholding and contouring to detect cars in 10 video streams from parking lot and traffic signals with 100% efficiency
• Developed a multi-lingual character classification pipeline from vehicle’s number plate using K-nearest neighbours algorithm in python with 84% accuracy
PROJECTS
Emergency Rescue Robot Nov. 2018-Dec. 2018
• Simulated the frontier exploration behaviour of the robot using C++, OpenCV, ROS and gazebo. The task simulated was to detect the emergency exit signs in the building and find the path to the exit door during emergency situations
• The quality of software was ensured by unit testing using continuous integration. Doxygen was used for documenting the project
Controls of Two-Pendulum Cart setup Nov. 2018-Dec. 2018
• Calculated the equations of motion and linearized the non-linear system of two pendulum cart setup
• Developed a LQR and LQG controller for the setup and simulated the results using MATLAB
Probabilistic Roadmap Planning Sept.2018-Oct. 2018
• Developed a path planning software in C++ that takes an image of the warehouse as input and generates the shortest path from goal to destination using probabilistic roadmap and greedy algorithm
• Agile development techniques like solo iterative process and test driven development were followed
CNC Based Autogenous Cultivator Jul. 2017 – Apr. 2018
• Programmed an automatic farming machine for ploughing, seeding, watering and monitoring operations using sensor feedback on Arduino Mega with 5mm seeding accuracy
• Developed an algorithm to detect unwanted plants by colour detection and contour detection using OpenCV
