PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a mother of two with a passion for kindness and humanity. I homeschooled with a small co-op before I began my higher learning education. This gives me a a perspective on teaching and learning through play that someone brought up in a traditional school setting may not have. I have experience with young children in many “outside of the box” teaching situations such as horsemanship lessons and kids’ yoga. While earning my B.A. in English rhetoric and writing, I also continued to add other skills and passions to my repertoire. I studied yoga, became a birth doula, taught riding lessons, and trained horses. My teaching experience is much like the beginnings of my education: outdoors and hands on. I want to bring the roots of who I am into my future as an educator, utilizing lesson plans that instill communication, kindness, and a desire to learn. With my children, I try to show them that any everyday situation can be an opportunity for growth and learning.
