Second year Art History student at the University of St. Andrews. Experience in working under time constraints and with focus being paramount. My work in the instrument repair industry has given me vital experience in understanding various and specific needs of customers and to pay attention to details. Working in such an environment has improved my conversational skills and helped me to gain confidence in being friendly and inviting to, on some days, a great multitude of new faces. I also believe that my recent experience in the restaurant industry has furthered some of these attributes such as working under pressure, multitasking, and becoming more efficient in the workplace.
Work Experience
Jan. 2016 – Sept. 2017: John Leadbetter Woodwind Repair, Inc.
• Shop Assistant
• Trained to take apart all types of saxophones in addition to clarinets and flutes.
• Removed the pads from the cups, cleaned the body and keys, and leveled the tone-holes.
• Some experience key-fitting and stripping lacquer.
• Sent on errands, such as going to the store for certain supplies or to the post office to send a product.
• Flexible work hours; anywhere from 5-10 hours a week.
June 2018 – Sept. 2018: Selamat Pagi
• Line Cook at a restaurant focused on Indonesian styled cuisine.
• Reported to the executive chef and followed instructions.
• Role included preparing food before dinner service and cooking menu throughout service. In charge of the Garde Manger station.
• Appropriately stored food at the station and afterwards during cleanup.
• Familiarity with a Flat Top grill. Used in service and cleaned thoroughly afterwards.
• Very occasionally took up duties as a bus boy
• Cleaned the kitchen after service
• Worked full-time throughout the summer, 40 hours or more per week.
