Civic Scholars of Seminole State
The Civic Scholars program was made to make the students of Seminole State active participants of civic engagement. By educating students about topics that are important in todays social and political climate, and giving us the resources to apply ourselves and make the change we would like to see. Whether that be through educating others, or creating out own active groups. I attended class sessions about several relevant topics (environmental activism, dismantling Anti-blackness in America, sexual assault awareness, LGBT equality, Education equality, and Balance of public health) and in the end put together a capstone project pertaining to many of the topics I learned through the program. The project was specifically about the portrayal of LGBT people in the media. Through this program I have learned to articulate about issues, unfairness and things I disagree with.
